Andronicus II Palaeologus, with Michael IX, 1282-1328. Trachy (Bronze, 25 mm, 2.64 g, 6 h), Thessalonica, circa 1294-1320. Nimbate and winged half-length figure of Archangel Michael standing facing, wearing military dress, holding spear in his right hand and shield in his left. Rev. Andronicus II, bearded, and Michael IX, beardless, standing facing, both wearing loros and crowns with pendilia, both holding betwenn them long partriarchal cross on two steps; around, traces of legend. DOC 763. SB 2455. Double struck and with some deposits, otherwise, about very fine.
